Drinking Alone with the Moon
月下独酌
Based on Li Bai's poem Drinking Alone with the Moon. A jug of wine among the flowers; I drink alone, with no one to share it. I raise my cup and invite the bright moon — with my shadow, that makes three of us. The moon knows nothing of drinking, and the shadow only follows where I go. Still, let me keep their company a while and take my pleasure before the spring is out. When I sing, the moon lingers; when I dance, the shadow breaks apart. Sober, we enjoy each other; drunk, we each go our own way. Let us bind ourselves in this friendship without feeling, and promise to meet again far off in the River of Stars.
